Frequently Asked Questions – Nominations
Why should I nominate a company?
This is an opportunity to share an inspiring story of business success with others. Manufacturers operate in a dimension that is usually unknown to most people. And conversely most people find the world of manufacturing to be interesting and intriguing,
Are self-nominations acceptable?
Absolutely. No one knows a company better than someone who works there.
How are the honorees chosen?
A panel of judges consisting of the Buffalo Business First editorial staff select the honorees based on the information on the nomination forms.
What makes for a well-done nomination?
Well-done nominations tell the story of a company’s path to success, obstacles to overcome and the impact on Western New York. The adage “show, don’t tell” applies here. Use concrete examples to explain how the company has become a showcase for the product produced and the employees who work there. Include specifics such as dates and percentage growth rates that substantiate the success of the company.
What do judges look for?
Explain your products and show how they’ve helped other businesses to prosper. Explain how new technology/equipment has changed the trajectory of the company. If your company is making zero landfill a priority, explain how operations have adapted to that.
How about a link to a website?
Sure. You can include a link to additional information if you want. The judges are not obligated to open the link, but it could prove useful if they have further questions or seek additional information.
